Of the 43 projects worth Rs 8,941.22 crore that Delhi Jal Board launched on 22 October 2026, 33, worth Rs 6,114.11 crore, were at foundation-stone stage. Most of the money is for sewage, as the Board works towards a pledge to clean the Yamuna by May 2029.
What is in the package
The package includes the upgrade of eight sewage plants from 78.2 MGD to 140.8 MGD for Rs 1,041 crore, a 1,034 km sewer network for Rs 1,691 crore, and 29 decentralised plants with 170 MGD of capacity in outer Delhi. Contracts for 13 of the 29 plants had been awarded by July 2026; in October the government described work on all 29 as awarded.
Who is already winning
Two Indian civil contractors announced sewer orders in mid-2026: VVIP Infratech received a Letter of Intent for Rs 198.49 crore over 24 months, and EMS Ltd one for Rs 158.29 crore over 15 months. Since August 2026, all new sewer contracts include 15 years of operation and maintenance by the same contractor.
Larger approvals behind it
On 30 September 2026 the Board approved a Rs 17,969 crore ten-year sewer programme run by zone operators on performance-linked pay, a Rs 6,044.05 crore South Delhi water project and 13 new sewage plants at Rs 7,373 crore. Plants at Kondli (36 MGD) and Jagriti Vihar (24 MGD), due by December 2028, had no tenders in October 2026.
Which of these programmes are open, emerging or already held, how the Board buys, and where suppliers should focus first, given debt of more than Rs 70,000 crore, are set out in the brief.
