Galfar Engineering and Contracting holds the largest disclosed network award at Nama Water Services: a design-and-build contract worth OMR 117 million, awarded in August 2024, for water distribution networks in Ibri, Yanqul and Dhank. The work runs for 44 months from commencement.
One project, two packages
Package 1 went to Galfar. Package 2 went to Egyptian Contractors, which signed its agreement in February 2025. Together the Al Dhahirah networks are reported as a OMR 235 million project, with completion expected in the second quarter of 2028.
The February 2025 signings
At the same February 2025 event, Hona Global Industries signed for water networks in Samayil and Izki, and Target Company for sewage networks in Al Ansab (Package B7D). Nama Water Services described 27 projects worth more than OMR 700 million, with OMR 193 million directed to in-country value.
Operations and transmission
The largest contract by value is for operations, not construction. In June 2026 a SUEZ-led consortium won a 15-year contract for Muscat and North and South Al Sharqiyah, put at €2 billion by SUEZ and about OMR 900 million by the Oman Observer. A local contractor won the Sur water transmission reinforcement in June 2026; its name was not in the public summary.
Still out to bid
On 4 November 2026 the supplier portal listed 14 tenders as floated. They include sewer networks in Bausher Shabia, closing on 14 December 2026, and water networks in Khasab, closing on 28 December 2026, each with a tender fee of OMR 1,000.
Which of these contracts suppliers can still reach, how Nama Water Services buys through frameworks, partnerships and design-build-finance, and where to focus first are set out in the brief.
