National Water Company's 2027 Tariff Replaces the Meter Fee with a Fixed Monthly Charge and Ties Wastewater to Half the Water Rate

From January 1, 2027, Saudi household water costs SAR 1 to SAR 6 per m³ across four tiers, wastewater is billed at half the water rate and a fixed monthly charge replaces the meter fee.

From January 1, 2027, Saudi households will pay SAR 1 per m³ for the first 15 m³ of water each month and SAR 6 per m³ above 45 m³, under revised tariffs National Water Company announced on October 25, 2026.

Four residential tiers

The residential schedule has four monthly blocks: SAR 1 per m³ up to 15 m³, SAR 2 from 16 to 30 m³, SAR 4 from 31 to 45 m³ and SAR 6 above that. Wastewater is charged at half the water rate in every tier, from SAR 0.5 to SAR 3 per m³, and the same half-rate rule applies in every sector.

A fixed charge replaces the meter fee

The monthly meter service fee is replaced by a fixed monthly charge set by meter size. A household with a meter up to 20 mm pays SAR 20 for water and SAR 10 for wastewater; the largest residential meters, above 100 mm, pay SAR 100 and SAR 50.

Business and government pay flat rates

Non-residential customers move to a single tier of SAR 8 per m³ for water and SAR 4 for wastewater. Government customers pay SAR 10 and SAR 5 per m³, with fixed monthly charges of SAR 1,000 for water and SAR 500 for wastewater.

The customer base it applies to

The tariff applies across a customer base of 2,336.66 thousand active water accounts in 2024, or 2.54 million customers in the company's figures to March 2026. It was announced alongside a monthly allowance of SAR 500 for civilian and military employees and retirees.

How the tariff sits alongside the company's 35% non-revenue water, its supply and wastewater flows, and the treatment contracts and projects under way are set out in the profile.
