Eleven Rand Water tenders were listed as open on 30 October 2026, and ten of them close between 3 and 24 November 2026. They range from R250,000 for sump pump repairs to R3.5 million for SAP support and maintenance. Together they show how a utility planning R41.1 billion of capital spending over 2026–2030 buys day to day.
What is on offer
The largest are SAP support (R3.5 million, closing 6 November), asbestos replacement at various sites (R3.5 million), independent audits of water quality sampling (R2.5 million), replacement of DN 900 valves at Palmiet station (R2.5 million) and solar hybrid power systems at reservoir sites (R1.8 million, closing 24 November). Smaller packages include refurbishment of the Trichardt pump set and of dosing equipment at Rietvlei, at R450,000 each.
The rules of entry
Bidders must be registered on the Central Supplier Database and be tax compliant. For a R15 million contract management system tender that closed on 31 July 2026, bids went in paper form to the bid box at Rand Water's head office. A R850,000 request for quotation for hydraulic power packs required a CIDB grading of 1ME or higher. Some briefings are compulsory, such as the sump pump briefing on 30 October 2026.
Where the large work sits
Tender listings show Palmiet system packages awarded to Mapitsi Civil Works, for about R1.8 billion in December 2024, and to New Age Smartux Joint Venture, for R169.9 million in August 2025. Rand Water reported B-BBEE spend of 105.6% of total expenditure in FY 2025, and 100% of tender awards to B-BBEE compliant entities.
