On 5 November 2026 the Australian Tenders listing for SA Water showed 12 tenders issued in the previous 12 months and none open; the latest, an Owners Engineering expression of interest dated 2 November 2026, was marked closed.
Regional plants on short windows
Regional treatment plants drew three of the tenders. The Coober Pedy reverse osmosis plant tender, seeking a contractor to design, supply and construct the plant with a proposed five-month delivery, was open from 10 April to 5 May 2026. A Koonibba wastewater plant, covering supply and the first 12 months of operation, closed the same day. The Millicent wastewater plant upgrade began with an expression of interest that closed on 6 February 2026 as the first stage of a multi-stage process.
Technology and services in the mix
The 2026 list also included an identity governance system closing on 24 March 2026, an in-vehicle safety system on 30 June 2026, an identity provider for the operational network on 23 July 2026 and probity services on 10 September 2026. A lagoon desludging panel closed on 10 June 2026.
What comes next
Coober Pedy's water network is due to move from the district council to SA Water by the end of 2026. Mount Bold, which SA Water calls the largest dam project in its history, holds A$76.7 million in the 2024-28 dam safety allocation and is going back to a new procurement strategy involving previous tenderers, with early construction expected in 2028 and completion planned for 2034. It is one of four dams needing upgrades: 16 of SA Water's 20 large dams meet national guidelines, against a target of 17 by July 2028. All of it sits inside a capital programme that reached A$799.9 million in 2024-25.
