Severn Trent Water paid its suppliers in 40 days on average between October 2025 and March 2026, according to its statutory payment practices report. By value, 76% of invoices were paid within 30 days.
Sixty-day standard terms
The company's standard terms for new contracts are 60 days, or 30 days for suppliers with fewer than 50 employees. Some older contracts still carry terms of up to 90 days until they are renewed. Severn Trent is not signed up to a payment code. It offers e-invoicing but not supply chain finance.
Registration comes first
Every supplier must register on the SAP Ariba platform before doing any procurement business with Severn Trent, and qualified status decides whether a supplier appears in category searches. Formal competitions are advertised on Find a Tender, where 2026 notices are issued under the Procurement Act 2023, often jointly with Hafren Dyfrdwy.
More work to pay for
Payment performance matters more as volumes grow. Group capital investment rose 16.7% to £1,954 million in 2025-26, and guidance for 2026-27 is £2.2 billion to £2.5 billion. Adjusted net debt at Severn Trent Water reached £9,647 million at 31 March 2026, and on 17 June 2026 the group raised its committed bank facilities to £1.65 billion.
A new finance chief to come
Chief Financial Officer Helen Miles announced on 27 October 2026 that she is leaving for Vistry Plc. She will serve a 12-month notice period while the Board searches for a successor.
