Questions answered
How large is SABESP's system?
It had 9,487 thousand water connections and 8,230 thousand sewage connections at June 30, 2026, and its annual filings put the networks at 93,163 km of water pipes and 63,635 km of sewer lines at the end of 2023.
Is the metropolitan water supply still under drought measures?
Yes. Night-time pressure reduction, in place since August 2025, was cut from 10 to 8 hours from August 2026 after the Cantareira moved from band 3 to band 2 of its contingency curve.
How did the first tariff adjustment under the concession work?
ARSESP calculated an equilibrium tariff of R$6.7673/m3 against an updated contract tariff of R$6.7655/m3, and customer tariffs rose 6.1106% from January 1, 2026.
Where is universalization furthest behind?
On SABESP's results to September 2026, informal and rural sewage units were at 71.39% of target and new sewage-treatment units at 88.73%, while urban water and sewage units were above target.
How fast is SABESP investing?
It recorded R$15.2 billion of capital expenditure in 2025, guided about R$20 billion for 2026 and reported R$7,458 million in the first half of 2026.
